Coach Flash thought Boulder wouldn’t be as tough as they turned out. At the time of our meeting the teams were tied with two points apiece. Our guys for sure were playing better and given the fact that most teams generally don’t play ‘better’ but ‘harder’ it was felt we should be able to get a win on their home ice. Can you believe Bantam Blue gave up three goals in the last five minutes of the game? There must be something there that the coaches can put a finger on and stop that kind of bleeding. Boulder wasn’t so much of a big team; yes, they had their big guys. Moreover they are a fast team. We didn’t have a single player carrying the puck that could keep a step ahead of their pursuit. Skating faster takes a lot more time to acquire than playing smarter, and that is where we will continue our efforts. The road to skating faster might make a good blog post for another day
vs. Yellow Final 4-3
Our weekend double header concluded with the much anticipated match up of Blue vs. Yellow. Your boys were anxious to see if the scrimmage win would hold up in the regular season. They were not disapointed. The game wasn’t fast paced as it had been a day earlier against Boulder, instead it was kinda slow and messy. Nothing more could be expected given the comparative even match-up of these two teams. Overall the fans would observe Bantam Blue plying their skills such as passing the puck, playing their positions and keeping the shifts short (a team effort). This consistency would provide more chances and indeed the final score showed the result. A big sigh of relief was breathed when Blue hung on to their one goal lead through the last three minutes of the third period. This win moved the team out of the basement and into ninth place (eleven teams total).
