Greetings from Coach Flash, Another weekend has come and gone and our guys lose another game. After the first period we thought our boys had a good chance to win this one. Coaches and players alike were hoping the Red team would not present the problems the Denver area teams had been presenting, and they didn’t. Overall it is the little things that build up over the course of the game that determine the outcome. A whiffed puck here, out of position there, an off target pass… The list goes on.
On the bright side our guys showed some improvement and we got to see Kevin Olson in his first game with the team. Kevin requested to be positioned at defense and we were happy to oblige, as we’ve been a player short in that position since the start of the season. Kevin proved to be an asset with his tenacious play. When we started the season the demand was on the players to ‘Talk’, communicate on ice with their teammates. As the weeks have gone by we stressed ‘Head Man Pass’, sharing the puck, trusting ones teammates. While the latter aspect of the game has shown some improvement the former has slipped away. It was an even battle for the first two periods, only slipping away on a defensive breakdown in the final minutes in the third. Colin’s sixteen minutes in penalties didn’t help either.

Practice
Sat. 10AM EPIC Green – Check regularly for changes. For this Saturdays practice we will continue focus on passing and puck control. Look for cone weaves with the puck. Look for defense being more physical, body positioning on the puck carrier. Look for simulated break-outs on the half sheet. (We really need full ice for this don’t ‘cha know!)
